Types of Migraines
Migraine with Aura
This used to be called classic migraine, complicated migraine and hemiplegic migraine. The aura occurs in at least 25% of patients that suffer from the condition. Aura symptoms can include visual issues, sensory issues, speech and language issues, and brainstem problems such as difficulty talking, vertigo, tinnitus, hearing problems, double vision and ataxia.
Acute Migraine
Also known as episodic migraine, it affects sufferers up to 14 days a month.
Chronic Migraines
Patients suffering from chronic migraine have a severe tension or migraine headache for more than 15 days a month for at least 3 months. Greater than 8 of the episodes are migraines that occur with or without aura.
