Liver issues can be inherited or may be due to several factors that cause damage to the organ such as alcohol, viruses and obesity.

Etiology of Kidney & Liver Issues

Acute Kidney Issues

Primary causes include: lack of blood flow to the kidneys, direct damage to the kidneys, and backed up urine in the kidneys.

Chronic Kidney Issues – When the kidneys poorly function or fail to work for more than three months. High blood pressure and diabetes are the two most common causes.

Causes of Liver Issues

1. Hepatitis A – People get infected by eating or drinking food or water contaminated with fecal material.
2. Hepatitis B – Patients can be infected through unprotected sex, using illegal drugs via sharing of needles.
3. Hepatitis C – You can get infected from tainted blood that is transfused to you.
4. Autoimmune hepatitis – results to inflammation of the liver and can lead to other disorders and even liver failure.
5. Primary biliary cholangitis – the disease attacks the tiny tubes in the liver called bile ducts.
6. Primary sclerosing cholangitis – results to scarring of the bile ducts and eventually blocks them.
