Short Description of Bruising
Bruising is one of the most common skin injuries around. It results in skin discoloration due to injured blood vessels that lie beneath and begins to collect near the surface. This results in the ubiquitous black and blue mark seen in the patient.
Symptoms of Bruising
- Initially a bruise may be reddish in color then it will turn blue or dark purple in just a few hours and then yellow or green after a few days as it already heals
- It is usually tender and painful for the first few days but the pain goes away when healing happens as the color fades
- There is no risk of infection as there is no break in the skin
About Bruising
A bruise or contusion appears when the skin is exposed to external trauma such as a cut or blow to any area of the body. This results in the tiny blood vessels called capillaries to burst. The blood gets trapped below the skin’s surface which results in a bruise.
Etiology of Bruises
Anyone can get a bruise when you bump into something or something bumps into you. Bruises can occur in some patients who exercise a lot like weight lifters and athletes. The bruising comes from the microscopic tears in the blood vessel under the skin.
Bruises in the elderly occur more often due to the skin having thinned due to age. Bruises can also occur if a patient is taking certain drugs such as blood thinners.
Diagnosis of Bruises
If the cause has been immediately ascertained such as an injury and the healthcare provider does not suspect any broken bones, then no other tests may be ordered. However, if there is severe pain and swelling on the area, the doctor may ask for an x-ray exam.

Reviews
Dick Rhoades – July 22, 2016: This protocol and the protocol for Inflammation are the ones that initially sold me on Sound Therapy. I had a very bad injury to my leg, just below my knee. I had a bump about the size of a half a grapefruit and within 10 to 15 minutes the swelling was gone as was the pain. It didn’t even turn black and blue. That got me going and made a believer out of me.
