Introduction to Lyme Disease

According to the Mayo Clinic, Lyme Disease is the most common tick-borne illness in North America and Europe.  If you spend time in grassy or heavily wooded areas, you are more likely to get Lyme Disease.  It is important to get treated with the appropriate antibiotics early, otherwise recovery will be slower and much more difficult.

The signs and symptoms of Lyme Disease may vary so much because it can affect so many different parts of the body.  Lyme Disease can cause:

  • Rash – a small red bump usually appears at the site of the bite.  It often resembles a bull’s eye and may be as large as 12 inches.
  • Flu-like symptoms.  Fatigue, chills, fever and body aches can accompany the rash.
  • Migratory Joint Pain – if left untreated you may develop severe joint pain and swelling.  Your knees are more than likely to be affected, but all other joints are susceptible.
  • Neurological Problems such as Meningitis, Fibromyalgia, temporary paralysis of your face, numbness or weakness of your limbs and/or impaired muscle movement.
  • Although not a prevalent, irregular heartbeat, eye inflammation, hepatitis and severe fatigue are all possible.

If left untreated, the disease can be devastating. Any and all parts of your body seem to be able to be affected by this little tick bite.  So what can you do if you didn’t get diagnosed and treated early or your antibiotic treatment simply didn’t work? What if your bout with Lyme Disease has become a major source of pain and discomfort for you?

Welcome to Universal Sound Therapy.  We have a sound therapy healing series for Lyme Disease that has been designed to help your body heal itself from the effects of this problematic disease. Because Lyme Disease can affect so many parts of your body, we developed a 4-disc set to cover all of the bases.  Our Universal Sound Therapy sessions provide the frequencies your body needs to be healthy.  Your body can heal itself.

Short Description of Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease is transmitted through the bite of an infected black-legged tick, known commonly as the deer tick.   The risk of getting Lyme disease is high when you live in grassy and heavily-wooded areas where ticks that carry the disease proliferate.

Symptoms of Lyme Disease

  • Rash
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Fatigue
  • Body malaise
  • Neck stiffness
  • Lymphadenopathy

About Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is considered to be the most common vector-borne disease in the country. It is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi and rarely by Borrelia mayonii. Patients get infected via the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. The usual symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue and a specific skin rash known as erythema migrans. If the condition is left untreated, the infection can spread to other parts of the body such as the heart, joints and nervous system. The disease is diagnosed via the symptoms presented and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks.  Lab testing can assist in the diagnosis of Lyme disease in a patient if done correctly and using validated methods. Most cases of the infection can be treated with success using antibiotics. Steps in the prevention of Lyme disease in patients are: use of insect repellent, removal of ticks from the body, application of pesticides and reduction of tick habitat.

Etiology of Lyme Disease

In the US, Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia mayonii, carried primarily by black-legged deer ticks. Young brown ticks are almost impossible to spot as they are often no bigger than a poppy seed. In order to contract the disease, an infected tick needs to bite a person.  Once it does, the bacteria enters the skin of the patient via the bite and  eventually make their way into the bloodstream. In many scenarios, to infect a patient with Lyme disease, a deer tick needs to attached to the skin for at least 36 to 48 hours.  If you discover an attached tick that looks swollen, it may have fed long enough to transmit the bacteria. Removing the tick as soon as possible can prevent infection.  Most patients do not even know they had a tick bite.

Lyme Disease was first recognized in the town of Old Lyme, Connecticut, in 1975. It is also the most common tick-borne illness in Europe as well.  While Lyme disease is commonly divided into 3 stages – early, localized, early disseminated and late disseminated – symptoms may overlap.  Some patients can also present in a later stage of disease without having any symptom of the earlier disease.

Some of the more common manifestations seen in Lyme Disease are:

  1. Flat, circular rash that resembles a red oval or bull’s eye anywhere on the body
  2. Fatigue
  3. Joint pain and swelling in the patient
  4. Muscle pain
  5. Head pain
  6. Fever
  7. Swollen lymph nodes
  8. Sleep issues
  9. Lack of focus or concentration

Manifestation in Children

Kids usually get the same clinical manifestations seen in adults such as:

  • Fatigue
  • Joint pain
  • Fever
  • Flu-like symptoms like body pain and malaise

These may happen soon after infection, or months and years later.  There may also be some psychological symptoms in the affected child. Based on data from a 2019 study, kids infected with the disease developed:

  • Anger or depression
  • Mood instability
  • Depression
  • Night terrors

If you have a child that is acting differently and cannot explain why or what they are feeling, it is vital you speak with your physician as these may be a sign of many conditions, including infection with Borrelia burgdorferi.

Diagnosis of Lyme Disease

During assessment of a possible patient suffering from Lyme disease, healthcare providers need to consider:

  • Signs and symptoms
  • The likelihood that the patient was exposed to infected black-legged ticks
  • Results of laboratory tests, when necessary

The Centers for Disease Control recommends a two-step process for the diagnosis of Lyme Disease. Both steps are needed and can be done using the same blood sample. If the 1st step turns out to be negative, no further testing is needed. However, if the 1st step turns out to be positive or indeterminate, the 2nd step is necessary.  The overall result is positive only when the first test turns out to be positive and the 2nd test is positive.

Key Points to Remember in Preventing Lyme Disease

Many if not all tests for Lyme disease are designed to detect antibodies made by the body in response to an infection.  Antibodies can take several weeks to develop, and patients may test negative if recently infected. The antibodies usually persist in the blood for several months and sometimes years even after being cured. Therefore, the test alone cannot be used to determine if someone is completely free of the disease.

Tick exposure may occur year-round. However, the ticks are most active during the warmer months from April to September.

Before Going outdoors

  1. Determine where ticks can be found – They live in grassy, bushy, or wooded areas and even on animals. Spending time outdoors walking the dog, gardening, camping or hunting may bring you in close contact with ticks. A lot of people get ticks in their own backyard or neighborhood.
  2. Treat gear and clothing with products containing 0.5% permethrin. This substance can be used to treat boots, clothing and camping gear and may remain protective enough through several washings.
  3. Use of EPA-registered insect repellents containing DEET, picaridin, oil of eucalyptus etc.
  4. Patients should veer away from contact with ticks by avoiding woody and brushy areas with high grass and leaf litter. Walking only in the center of trails.

5 reviews for Lyme Disease

  1. Corrine Jessup

Universal Sound Therapy sounded a bit far-fetched to me but I was so miserable I thought I would give it a shot and I am so grateful that I tried it. My Lymes Disease took away my job and my hobbies, before Lymes I was an avid hiker which I had to give up, it just completely changed my life and not in a good way. I started using Universal Sound Therapy just over 6 weeks ago and almost immediately felt somewhat better. As each day went by I felt better and could be out of bed more and more. Now I get up in the morning and shower, eat breakfast and am encouraged that there is a life out there. The swelling in my legs and feet is way down, the numbness is gone so I feel more sure when I walk, I don’t ache constantly, I enjoy reading again, and the best part is I really believe that I will keep improving. If it is this good after 6 weeks, what will it be like in another 6 weeks? Thank you Universal Sound for a product that has helped so much, I cant even begin to express my gratitude.

I have been in extreme pain for a few years now because of that stupid little tick. I have a hard time thinking and have no energy. I got your CD last month and am feeling some changes. I think the fog is clearing and I feel much stronger. Good Job Universal Sound.

  3. Harold Jesson

My wife was basically bedridden. She was in pain all of the day, had absolutely no energy and no stamina. We tried your CD on Lyme as a last resort, because we had tried everything else we could find. In only a few weeks, we could tell a difference. Her pain is going away, she is up and going for walks every day. I can’t believe how much she has improved and it’s all because of your CD. Thank you so much, we are in your debt.
